About Judy
Judy Greenwood earned her law degree from Rutgers University–Camden in 1975 after completing a bachelor's degree at Temple University in 1971. Her academic path placed her in the Philadelphia legal community at a time of change. She moved quickly from law school into public-interest work.
Her first post-law school role was as a staff lawyer at Community Legal Services in 1975. That early work exposed her to client-side advocacy and courtroom practice. In 1981 she joined Bernstein, Bernstein & Harrison, where she served as an associate and later as a partner. That decade in private practice broadened her trial experience and helped establish her as a courtroom lawyer.
Greenwood became a partner at Kolsby, Gordon, Rothweiller & Shore in 1991. Two years later she launched her own firm and became principal of the Law Offices of Judy Greenwood, P.C. Her name has headed that office since 1993. She also served as a judge pro tem for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas in 2008, taking on temporary judicial duties while continuing her practice.
Her admissions cover a range of federal and state venues. She is admitted in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and she holds privileges in the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the District of New Jersey. Her authorizations extend to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court, reflecting a practice that has reached appellate as well as trial courts.
Peers have recognized her performance; she holds an AV Pre-eminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell. Professional memberships run long and steady. She has been active in the Pennsylvania State Bar and the Philadelphia Bar Association since 1981, and she holds memberships in national organizations including the American Bar Association and the American Association for Justice. Since 2016 she has been a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and a member of the International Women’s Leadership Association.
Greenwood maintains offices in Philadelphia and Plymouth Meeting. Her career spans public-interest work, firm partnerships and solo practice, along with a stint on the bench as a pro tem judge. She concentrates her current practice on civil trial litigation.
