About Joshua
Joshua Strickland earned his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2003. He completed his formal legal education there and went on to build a practice anchored in the Northeast Ohio legal community. His academic background at Case Western informed his early courtroom work and his later involvement in local civic organizations.
He is admitted to practice in Ohio and is also admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court and the Northern District of Ohio. Those admissions permit him to represent clients in state courts and to appear in federal proceedings when cases require it. He has used those credentials in matters that cross jurisdictional lines and in collaborative work with local attorneys.
Strickland practices at Dworken & Bernstein Co., L.P.A., where he represents individuals and organizations in a range of state and federal matters. He handles filings and courtroom appearances in county and federal venues and works with colleagues on case strategy and client counseling. His work at the firm involves client-facing responsibilities and collaboration on litigation and transactional files.
Outside the office, he is active in a range of civic and professional organizations. He serves as president of the Mentor chapter of AmSpirit Business Connections and chairs the Young Lawyers Committee of the Lake County Bar Association. He also holds the office of treasurer for the Lake County Bar Association and is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association. He serves on the board of the Eastern Lake County Chamber of Commerce and sits on the board of directors for Ohio Legal History.
Strickland’s community ties extend into historic preservation and local faith institutions. He is a past president of the Lake County Historical Society and is a member of the Garfield Alliance connected to the James A. Garfield National Historic Site. He chairs the board of trustees at Painesville United Methodist Church and participates in Lake County business development initiatives.
Those civic roles reflect an interest in local institutions and in building professional relationships across the county. He balances those responsibilities with his practice at Dworken & Bernstein, where he collaborates with colleagues to meet client needs and engage in community-oriented legal work.
He currently concentrates on representing clients in state and federal courts, including matters in the Northern District of Ohio and, where appropriate, proceedings that may reach the U.S. Supreme Court.
