About Joshua P.
Joshua P. Waldman built an academic foundation that blends business, law and liberal arts. He earned a B.A. from the University of Arizona in 1998, studying interdisciplinary subjects with an emphasis in business, philosophy and communications. He returned to San Diego for law school and completed his J.D. at the University of San Diego School of Law in 2002. He stayed on there to finish an MBA at the University of San Diego School of Business Administration in 2003.
He entered private practice and by 2006 had become a partner at Burkhalter Kessler Clement & George, LLP. That promotion marked a steady progression in a practice spent in firm settings. He is admitted to practice in California and is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. His membership in the California State Bar is recorded beginning in 1998 and remains current. He also maintains memberships in the American Bar Association and the Orange County Bar Association.
Colleagues describe him as steady in the courtroom and helpful in client conferences. His courtroom authorizations allow him to appear in both state and federal forums, and that dual authorization shapes how he approaches case selection and preparation. He has worked on matters that require coordination between state and federal procedures and schedules. He has served in a leadership role within his firm since becoming partner and participates in file strategy, client counseling and trial preparation.
Waldman’s educational background in business and law informs his approach to casework. The MBA following the J.D. gives him additional framework for handling matters where financial analysis and business concepts matter to legal tactics. He brings that mix to litigation planning and settlement discussions, where an understanding of client economics can alter the legal choices on the table.
Throughout his career he has kept professional ties current through bar and county association memberships. Those memberships provide continuing legal education and opportunities to stay current with procedural and substantive developments in California and federal courts. He continues to practice at Burkhalter Kessler Clement & George, LLP, where his work centers on matters presented in California courts and in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
