About Joshua

Joshua Heidelman graduated from Wheaton College in 2002 and earned his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 2005. He entered private practice the same year and built a career that has moved between large law firms, a nonprofit legal department, and his own practice. The early years after law school set the pattern: work at established firms, then take on in-house responsibilities, then return to private practice.

Heidelman began his legal career at K&L Gates in 2005. He later joined Bryan Cave in 2011, where he handled matters typical of an associate at a national firm. In 2013 he shifted to the nonprofit sector, taking on the roles of executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. Those years in-house broadened his experience in governance, compliance and organizational legal affairs. Colleagues describe him as steady and precise in handling corporate records and contractual obligations.

After a decade that mixed firm and nonprofit work, Heidelman launched his own practice in 2020, operating as Heidelman Law Office, PC. He continued to practice in the private sector and in 2022 became a partner at Castaneda + Heidelman LLP. The move to a partnership reflected a return to a collaborative firm environment while keeping a foothold in solo practice. Throughout, he maintained a pragmatic approach: assess legal risk, document the steps, and give clients clear options.

Clients and peers see a profile shaped by diverse settings. Work at large firms exposed him to transactional and document-intensive matters. The in-house position added responsibilities for institutional governance and policy. Running his own office required handling intake, client management and the business side of law. Those combined experiences inform how he approaches cases now: methodical, procedurally aware and attentive to the operational realities of organizations.

Heidelman remains active in the legal community and continues to handle matters through his firm. He lives and practices in the region where his offices are based and balances client work with the administrative duties of running a small practice. He currently focuses his practice on corporate and nonprofit law, contracts and governance.
