About Joseph Michael
Joseph Michael Coleman built a path to law that starts in two distinct undergraduate disciplines. He earned bachelor’s degrees in music and political science at Florida State University before turning to law at the same university’s College of Law. Those academic choices give him a mix of analytical training and attention to detail that colleagues often note in day-to-day work.
After law school he established his practice in Florida and became a member of the Florida bar. He has spent his career working in the state where he trained, practicing from office settings rather than distant regional hubs. His professional activities have included both client representation and involvement in bar governance, reflecting an interest in the profession beyond individual cases.
Coleman has taken on leadership roles in young lawyer organizations. Since 2019 he has served on the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors. He also chaired the Young Lawyers Section of the Collier County Bar Association from 2021 to 2022. Those positions put him in regular contact with peers across practice areas and with issues affecting lawyers in the early stages of their careers.
Within his firm environment he has handled matters typical of Florida practitioners. That work has given him experience in court processes, client counseling, and collaborative lawyering. He combines the organizational habits of a former double-major with the routine demands of litigation and transactional practice. Peers describe him as steady in court settings and thorough in preparation.
Outside the office he maintains the kinds of commitments common among lawyers who remain active in bar groups. His service on the Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors has involved policy discussions and programming that aim to support lawyers across the state. As chair in Collier County he oversaw local initiatives intended to connect younger attorneys with established practitioners and community needs.
Today he practices at Boatman Ricci in Florida. His work there is centered on the firm’s core practice areas, and he continues to participate in statewide and local bar activities while serving clients from the firm’s office.
