About Joseph K.

Joseph K. Henry took a straight path into the law. He earned a B.B.A. from Georgia Southern University in 2007 and a J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law in 2012. Those credentials set the stage for a career rooted in Georgia courtrooms.

He began his legal work in public service. In 2012 he served as a prosecutor at the Gwinnett County Solicitor-General's Office. That role put him on the front lines of misdemeanor prosecutions and gave him day-to-day experience in courtroom procedure, case preparation and plea negotiations. It was an apprenticeship in how local criminal justice systems operate and how cases move from charge to resolution.

After his time in the Solicitor-General's Office he transitioned into private practice. In 2014 he joined the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers as a regular member and has maintained that membership since. That affiliation indicates an ongoing engagement with defense practitioners and the issues that affect criminal litigation in the state. His professional network and continuing education have been shaped by those contacts and by regular exposure to trial-focused legal work.

Henry's practice reflects the mix of roles he has held. He handles criminal matters in Georgia courts and draws on prosecutorial experience when evaluating charges, crafting defenses and counseling clients on potential outcomes. He is comfortable in courtrooms and counsel chambers alike. He prepares motions, negotiates pleas and defends clients at trial when cases proceed that far. The combination of public-prosecutor experience and private defense work gives him familiarity with both sides of criminal cases.

Colleagues and clients see him as a pragmatic courtroom lawyer rather than a legal theoretician. He tends to approach cases by parsing the facts, testing legal theories and making measured choices about when to litigate and when to seek a resolution. He continues to participate in professional groups that emphasize criminal defense practice and attends panels and trainings that keep him current on changes in Georgia criminal law.

He practices law in Georgia at Hendrick & Henry Law. His current practice covers criminal defense work across state and local courts in Georgia, representing individuals charged with a range of offenses and handling related pretrial and trial matters.
