About Joseph John
Joseph John Centra built a legal foundation that begins in the classroom and stretches into public service and private practice. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Law from St. Bonaventure University in 2008 and went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 2011. Those years of study preceded a steady climb through courthouse work and firm practice.
He entered public service soon after law school. In 2011 he joined the Onondaga County District Attorney's Office as an assistant district lawyer. There he handled the day-to-day responsibilities common to a prosecutorial office: preparing cases, working with witnesses, and appearing in court. The role gave him sustained exposure to courtroom procedure and case preparation under deadlines.
After time in the public sector, Centra moved into private practice. In 2018 he began work as a lawyer at Cambareri & Cambareri, LLP. His years at the firm have placed him in the environment of a general practice firm, where lawyers handle a range of client matters. The transition from a prosecutor's office to a firm setting altered his day-to-day tasks, placing more emphasis on client counseling and case strategy for individual and corporate clients.
Centra is admitted to practice in New York. He maintains professional memberships and participates in the legal community through those affiliations. Colleagues describe him as steady in the courtroom and attentive to procedural detail. He brings to his work the procedural habits learned in the district attorney's office, combined with the dossier-building and client-facing skills required in private practice.
Outside formal titles and roles, Centra's career shows a straightforward arc: solid academic preparation, public-sector courtroom experience, and then a shift into firm practice. That progression is common among attorneys who move from prosecutorial positions into private law. It gives him experience on both sides of disputes and familiarity with how cases develop from charge or complaint to resolution.
He practices in New York and is based at Cambareri & Cambareri, LLP. He currently represents clients in New York through his work at Cambareri & Cambareri, LLP.
