Mr. Appel is a managing partner at Appel Law Firm LLP, a personal injury and workers' compensation law firm located in Walnut Creek, California. He has been practicing law for over 46 years, serving clients throughout the Contra Costa and Alameda counties in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Mr. Appel earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he graduated in 1979. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at St. Mary's College of California, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976. During his time at St. Mary's, he was a member of the basketball team and received the Scholar Athlete of the Year Award upon graduation.
Mr. Appel concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury, workers' compensation, and products liability. He represents individuals in matters involving car accidents, medical malpractice, and workplace injuries. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.

He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in Walnut Creek for several years.
Mr. Appel is an active member of the California State Bar Association, the Contra Costa County Bar Association, and the Alameda County Bar Association. He is also a member of the Consumer Attorneys of California. In addition to his professional activities, he has been involved in community service, including coaching elementary and high school basketball for 18 years and supporting advocacy for the mentally ill through his church community.
