About Joseph Cannizzo

Joseph Cannizzo Jr built his legal foundation in two back-to-back degrees. He earned a J.D. from Rutgers School of Law–Camden in 2019 and followed that with an LL.M. in Casino Gaming Law & Regulation from UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law in 2020. The advanced studies at Boyd gave him formal training in the rules and structures that shape gaming operations and regulatory oversight.

He began gaining hands-on experience before finishing law school. In 2016 he worked as a law clerk for Drinkwater & Goldstein, LLP, assisting attorneys with research and case preparation. After completing his LL.M., he took on a leadership role in 2020 as Alabama Managing Lawyer at Lento Law Group, P.C. That position placed him in the center of state-level matters for the firm during a period of active licensing and regulatory work.

Cannizzo’s technical skills are grounded in formal research credentials. He holds multiple legal research certifications, including Lexis Advance and Westlaw, and he completed Bloomberg Law’s Introduction & Navigation and Fundamental Legal Research programs. Those credentials complement the practical experience he gained in clerkship and at the firm.

He is admitted to practice in Alabama. His academic choice to pursue casino gaming law signals a specialty that many general practices do not cover. He has applied that background to regulatory questions, licensing processes and compliance topics that often arise around gaming enterprises. His professional path shows an emphasis on the statutory and administrative rules that govern gaming activity rather than on trial work or transactional corporate practice alone.

Cannizzo works at Lento Law Group, P.C., where he handles matters tied to gaming regulation and related compliance. He advises on licensing issues and regulatory obligations for clients operating under Alabama law. His current practice focuses on casino gaming regulation, licensing and compliance in Alabama.
