About Joseph A.
Joseph A. Gangi earned his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School, receiving his J.D. in 2009. He completed his legal studies after a nontraditional path that included prior service in the U.S. Army. The University of Wisconsin Law School shaped his approach to legal problems and prepared him for work in appellate and trial settings.
His early post-law school work brought him directly into the federal judiciary. In 2009 he served as a staff lawyer for the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. That role exposed him to complex appellate briefing and internal court processes. Two years later he accepted a judicial law clerkship at the Minnesota Court of Appeals, where he worked on opinions and legal research for appellate judges.
Before law school, Gangi spent time in the military. In 2001 he served as a signals intelligence analyst in the United States Army. That experience taught him to manage detailed information and to operate under pressure. It also informed his later legal work, especially matters that require careful analysis of records and technical material.
By 2013 he had moved into private practice as a lawyer at Farrish Johnson Law Office. In that capacity he handled client matters that ranged from motion practice to courtroom appearances. His background in appellate procedure and court operations proved useful when preparing briefs and crafting case strategies. Colleagues describe him as methodical and precise in written work.
Gangi’s practice reflects the combination of his public and private roles. He has worked inside appellate courts and at the counsel table. That mix gives him a practical sense of how appellate questions arise from trial-level decisions. He approaches cases by breaking complex problems into discrete issues and by placing them in the procedural context that matters most to judges and opposing counsel.
He is licensed to practice in both Minnesota and Wisconsin. He continues to practice across those jurisdictions, handling matters that include appellate work, civil litigation, and proceedings that call for detailed legal research and written advocacy. His current practice centers on these areas across Minnesota and Wisconsin.
