About Jonathan Charles

Jonathan Charles Voelker grew up academically prepared for a career in law. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2003 and went on to receive his J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law in 2007. That combination of a broad undergraduate education and a law degree from Duquesne set the stage for a practice rooted in local institutions and bar activities.

Early in his career Voelker became involved in professional organizations that deal with family and matrimonial law. He participates in the Matrimonial Inns of Court, an association that brings together lawyers, judges and others who handle matrimonial matters. He is also active in the Allegheny County Bar Association and the Young Lawyers Division, where he has taken part in programs aimed at newer members of the bar and at improving practice standards across the county.

Those affiliations inform the kinds of matters he handles and the colleagues he works with. Over the years he has worked on cases and legal problems that arise from family breakdowns and the procedural work around them. His courtroom and negotiation work has been shaped by the practical exchanges he’s had through Inns of Court gatherings and county bar events.

Colleagues describe him as someone who leans on practical preparation. He pays attention to procedural detail and to the local rules that often determine how quickly a case moves. He prepares filings and appears in hearings that test factual and legal claims. He also uses bar association programs for continuing education and peer discussion, and those forums have influenced his approach to case management and client communication.

Voelker’s professional life has remained centered in Pennsylvania. Since completing law school in 2007 he has continued to work in the state’s legal community, balancing courtroom work, negotiation and client counseling. He maintains regular relationships with other family law practitioners and with county court staff, which helps in handling time-sensitive matters and complex schedules.

In 2026 he continues to practice law in Pennsylvania. He concentrates on matrimonial and family law matters, handling the practical steps and courtroom work those cases require.
