Jon Robert Vaught is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in December 1984. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Vaught is the owner of Doyle Quane, a law firm located at 571 Hartz Avenue, Danville, California. He has been practicing law for over 41 years, serving clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and surrounding regions.
Mr. Vaught earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Davis, School of Law in 1984. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1981. He furthered his legal education by obtaining a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from Golden Gate University School of Law in 1994. During his time at UC Davis, he was an editor and contributor to the UC Davis Law Review.
Mr. Vaught specializes in estate planning, trust and probate law, taxation, asset protection, and business law. He provides practical counseling and litigation services to clients in these areas, assisting with matters such as estate and gift taxation, estate planning, advanced estate planning, and professional responsibility for tax practitioners. His practice encompasses all stages of legal proceedings, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Vaught has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Alameda, the United States District Court for the Northern, Eastern, Central, and Southern Districts of California, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Tax Court. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in Oakland for several years.
Mr. Vaught is an active member of the Alameda County Bar Association and the East Bay Trusts and Estates Lawyers. He holds membership in the Taxation Section and the Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Section of the State Bar of California. He is also a certified specialist in Taxation Law and Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law by the California Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Vaught is fluent in English, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of the San Francisco Bay Area effectively.
