About Jolene K.
Jolene K. Murray built her legal foundation at Randolph-Macon College, where she earned a B.A. in 2005, and then at the University of Baltimore School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 2008. Early on she combined classroom study with practical work; she served as a student representative for Thomson Reuters Westlaw in 2005, a role that exposed her to legal research tools while she was still in school.
Her first law firm position came immediately after law school. In 2008 she joined Brassel, Baldwin, Kagan & May, PA as an associate and law clerk. That post lasted a year and led to a move in 2009 to Parler & Wobber, LLP, where she worked as a litigation associate. In 2010 she accepted a litigation associate position at Hartel, Kane, DeSantis & Howie, LLP. Her responsibilities expanded there until 2016, when she became a partner at Hartel, DeSantis & Murray, LLP.
Through those years of practice she accumulated steady courtroom and trial exposure. Her job titles list her as a litigation associate and later as a partner, which reflects day-to-day work on contested matters and filings in both state and federal forums. She is admitted to practice in Maryland and is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, allowing her to represent clients in state and federal proceedings.
Her professional affiliations include active membership in the Maryland State Bar Association and the American Association for Justice. Those associations bring connection to colleagues and to continuing legal education that informs her practice. She has moved through the ranks of a regional litigation practice rather than entering from a different specialty.
Colleagues describe a practitioner who handles the procedural and substantive demands of civil litigation: drafting motions, taking and defending depositions, engaging in discovery disputes and preparing cases for trial. Her record inside the firm shows a progression from support roles to lead counsel responsibilities. The transition to partnership reflected both longevity at the firm and an expanded role in guiding case strategy and client interaction.
She is based at Hartel, DeSantis & Murray, LLP. Her work continues to emphasize litigation in Maryland courts and in the federal district where she is admitted. She currently practices civil litigation at Hartel, DeSantis & Murray, LLP.
