About John Terry

John Terry Brown has spent more than five decades connected to the law. He arrived at the University of Georgia in the late 1960s, earned a B.A. in Political Science in 1970, and completed his J.D. at the University of Georgia School of Law in 1973. Those early years on campus shaped a steady approach to practice. He learned how to read statutes and cases closely and how to explain them plainly.

After law school, Brown established himself in private practice. Over the years he handled a steady stream of matters out of a small office, building a practice that relied on careful preparation rather than flash. He has worked in a one- or few-attorney setting for much of his career. That pace allowed him to stay closely involved in each case he took, attending hearings, preparing briefs and meeting with clients in person.

Colleagues describe him as methodical. He favors clear legal writing and direct courtroom presentations. He has seen the profession change dramatically since the 1970s. Technology altered how lawyers file papers and communicate. Court procedures evolved. He adapted incrementally, keeping core habits intact: thorough research, organized files and straightforward advocacy.

Brown’s experience is rooted in long-term client relationships. Over the decades, he served clients who preferred a steady, accessible lawyer over a large firm model. He has handled matters at the trial and administrative levels, drafted pleadings and negotiated settlements. He has taken cases through motion practice and to hearings when necessary. He also spent time advising on transactional matters where practical legal judgment mattered more than headline-grabbing litigation.

Outside the office he has maintained ties to the local legal community. He has attended bar events and local continuing legal education seminars. Those activities kept him current on developments in state law and procedure. They also provided a modest network of peers to consult on unusual issues.

As of 2026 Brown continues to operate Brown Law Office. His practice reflects years of steady work rather than publicity. He serves clients directly from his office, handling matters that require personal attention and practical legal solutions. He currently practices at Brown Law Office, handling a range of legal matters.
