About John

John Tait earned a B.B.A. in finance from Pace University in 1996 and went on to receive his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1999. His academic background paired business training with legal study, a combination that has informed the shape of his practice. He moved into private practice after law school and has since worked in a mix of large firm and smaller office settings.

Early in his career Tait spent time at White & Case LLP and later at McCarter & English LLP. Those years exposed him to complex commercial matters and the demands of litigation practice at larger firms. He then worked at Renzulli Law Office LLC, where the pace and case mix shifted toward more hands-on, client-facing work. Most recently he joined the Law Office of Michael H. Joseph, PLLC, where he maintains his practice.

Tait is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey and holds admissions to the Second and Ninth Circuit federal courts. He is a current member of the State Bar of New York. That combination of state and federal credentials allows him to handle matters that move between trial courts and appellate settings. Colleagues describe him as steady and exacting in court preparation and in written work.

Over the years his caseload has included civil litigation across business and finance-related disputes. He has represented clients in state and federal court proceedings, and he has experience managing the procedural and evidentiary requirements that litigation demands. At larger firms he supported teams on high-stakes matters; in smaller offices he has taken on more direct client counseling and case management responsibilities.

Tait’s approach to work emphasizes methodical preparation and clear communication. He prefers to break complex problems into manageable parts and to set realistic timelines for clients and opposing counsel. That approach can be especially useful when cases involve financial records, transactional histories, or contested discovery.

He continues to practice at the Law Office of Michael H. Joseph, PLLC, where he handles litigation and related matters in New York and New Jersey and in the Second and Ninth Circuit federal courts.
