About Cory Michael
Cory Michael Garcia built his legal foundation at Boston College, where he earned a B.S. in Communications and Economics. He followed that with a J.D. from New York Law School. The combination of communications and economics shaped a pragmatic approach to legal problems and helped him bridge technical detail and plainspoken advice.
Garcia entered public service early in his career. In 2002 he joined the Bronx County District Lawyer's Office as an Assistant District Lawyer. That role placed him in a municipal legal environment and offered an introduction to courtroom procedure, case preparation and the demands of public-sector work.
In 2010 Garcia moved into municipal counsel when he became Assistant General Counsel at the New York City Department of Education. The position involved advising a large city agency and interacting with operational and policy questions at scale. Four years later he joined NYC Health & Hospitals as Associate Counsel. That shift kept him in the public-health and municipal sphere while exposing him to the legal issues that arise in large healthcare systems.
By 2018 Garcia had transitioned into private practice at Koehler & Isaacs, LLP, serving as Associate Counsel. His time there brought him into a firm setting and added experience working for a private legal team alongside his prior public-sector roles. Each step in his career deepened his familiarity with how government agencies operate and how they interact with private parties.
Garcia now operates the Law Office of Cory Garcia, P.C. He has drawn on nearly two decades of experience across municipal offices, city agencies and private practice to shape his work as a solo practitioner. Colleagues describe him as steady and pragmatic. He approaches questions methodically and pays attention to how legal decisions play out in institutions as well as for individual clients.
Throughout his career Garcia has stayed in New York. He is licensed to practice in the state and has made New York practice the center of his professional life. He balances the procedural demands of litigation environments with advising clients who need practical, institution-aware legal guidance.
At his firm Garcia concentrates his private practice on legal issues involving municipal entities, education and health systems, and on representing private clients in matters that arise under New York law.
