About John S.
John S. Han completed his legal education at American University Washington College of Law. He built his foundation there before moving into a varied legal career that spans public prosecution, federal trial work and military tribunal service. The classroom years gave way quickly to work in courtrooms and offices across different branches of government.
Early in his career Han served as an assistant district lawyer in Philadelphia, beginning in 2000. He joined the U.S. Department of Justice in 2006 as a trial lawyer in the Organized Crime and Gang Section, where he handled federal matters that required courtroom familiarity and coordination with investigative teams. In 2010 he accepted a position as a military trial judge on the Navy-Marine Corps Trial Judiciary, bringing courtroom management and judicial decision-making to the fore of his work. Each role added a different dimension to his trial skills and courtroom perspective.
Han later moved into private practice. He founded Han Law LLC in 2021 and ran that practice as a trial lawyer handling criminal matters. In 2023 he joined High Swartz LLP as a criminal defense and trial lawyer. Across public and private roles he has mixed trial advocacy, case development and courtroom procedure. He is admitted to practice in both New York and Pennsylvania. Records indicate professional memberships dating back to 1999, reflecting long-standing participation in bar-related activities and legal communities.
That mix of prosecutorial experience, federal trial work and service as a military judge informs his approach to criminal cases. He has worked on matters involving organized crime, gang-related prosecutions and other serious criminal charges, and he brings bench-side insight to defense strategy. Colleagues and opposing counsel encounter a lawyer familiar with both sides of the aisle and comfortable in complex litigation settings. He currently practices at High Swartz LLP, where he handles criminal defense and trial work.
