About John P.
John P. Dickson earned a B.A. in economics from the University of Notre Dame in 2007 and completed his J.D. at the University of Chicago in 2010. His academic path combined quantitative training in economics with a law school education that emphasized transactional work and courtroom procedure. Those two strands have repeatedly shaped the kinds of matters he takes on.
After law school he turned to practice in the Midwest. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and in Wisconsin. Since 2014 he has practiced at Dickson Law Group, LLC, where he has handled cases that require both an understanding of personal finance and familiarity with state and federal procedures. He works in state and federal courts and is registered with bar organizations across the region.
Dickson maintains active memberships in a number of professional associations. He joined the Illinois State Bar Association in 2010 and, beginning in 2012, added memberships in the Chicago Bar Association, the McHenry County Bar Association, the State Bar of Wisconsin, and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. Those memberships indicate ongoing engagement with both local legal communities and national specialty groups.
His practice includes consumer bankruptcy matters and related debt resolution work. He represents individuals in bankruptcy filings and handles contested matters that arise from those filings. He also addresses creditor-debtor disputes and other litigation tied to consumer financial issues. Colleagues and court filings show experience navigating the differing rules and timelines that come with practicing across state lines in Illinois and Wisconsin.
He runs his practice through Dickson Law Group, LLC and maintains an office that serves clients in the Chicago region and nearby Wisconsin communities. He continues to handle bankruptcy cases, debt relief matters, and associated litigation for individual clients in both Illinois and Wisconsin.
