Francisco J. Botto began his legal path with a broad liberal arts foundation and a law degree earned in the early 1990s. He studied at Amherst College before attending Mount Wachusett Community College, and he completed his J.D. at Northwestern University School of Law in 1992. Those years set the groundwork for a career spent practicing in Illinois.
After finishing law school, Botto entered private practice in Illinois. He joined the firm that became Botto Gilbert Lancaster - Lawyers at Law and rose to partner in 2001.
