About John Michael
John Michael Mcbride began his academic path in the liberal arts before turning to law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science from Emory University in 1980. He completed his legal training at Southern Methodist University, receiving his J.D. in 1983.
After law school he entered practice in Texas and over the years secured admissions to several federal and appellate courts. His credentials include admission to the Texas bar, the U.S. Supreme Court, the Fifth and Ninth Circuits, and multiple United States District Courts in Texas, including the Northern, Southern, Western and Eastern Districts. Those admissions have been a consistent feature of a career spent largely on litigation and bankruptcy work.
Mcbride has held leadership roles in private practice. Records show he served as president of J. Michael McBride, PC in 1997. He maintains an office at 6420 Southwest Blvd Ste 112, where he continues to take cases and counsel clients. His practice record spans contested matters in commercial and bankruptcy courts as well as federal litigation.
Professional associations form a large part of his public profile. He is active in both the Tarrant County Bar Association and the Dallas Bar Association, where he has worked in their bankruptcy and commercial law sections. He chaired the Tarrant County Bar Association Bankruptcy Section in 2003–2004 and served as vice-chairman and speaker chairman the year before. He has been involved with the Hon. John C. Ford American Inns of Court as a Master and previously led a pupillage group. He has also been affiliated with the Risk Management Association at state and regional levels.
Outside those local organizations, Mcbride helped found Texas Lawyers for Texas Veterans in 2010 and has maintained a membership there. His record also shows involvement with the New York State Bar Association’s Department of Pro Bono Affairs beginning in 2007. Those roles reflect sustained participation in bar activities and practitioner education rather than a pattern of public office or academic appointments.
Colleagues describe a practice built on courtroom experience and procedural knowledge across state and federal forums. He has handled bankruptcy matters and commercial disputes, and routinely appears in district court proceedings in Texas. His office continues to accept matters in those areas.
He currently handles federal and state litigation and bankruptcy matters.
