About John Kenneth
John Kenneth Harris has built a legal career that stretches back to the mid-1970s. He combined military service and advanced study early on, then settled into private practice. Colleagues and clients have seen a steady progression from junior associate to firm founder.
Harris completed his undergraduate studies in economics at the University of Virginia in 1970. He earned his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law in 1975 and went on to receive an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law in 1979. His legal career began in uniform. In 1975 he served on active duty as a judge advocate with the United States Navy JAGC. That period gave him courtroom experience and exposure to military and government legal practice early in his career.
After leaving active duty Harris entered private practice and joined MacElree, Harvey, Gallagher, O Donnell and Featherman as an associate in 1979. He moved through a series of associate roles over the next decade, including positions at Felheimer, Elchen & Goodman in 1983, Archer & Greiner in 1984, and Fox Rothschild (then Fox Rothchild, O Brien & Frankel) in 1988. In 1990 he served as of counsel at White & Williams, a role that preceded his decision to start his own firm.
In 1994 Harris founded Harris Law Offices. He has led the firm since then and managed its practice from Philadelphia. His long tenure as a practicing lawyer in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania reflects a career built on steady private-practice work rather than public office or judicial appointment.
Harris holds membership in the Pennsylvania State Bar and is licensed to practice in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Over decades at multiple firms and in his own practice, he has handled matters that draw on his tax training and on experience in litigation and transactional settings. His background in economics and his LL.M. in Taxation inform how he approaches complex financial and business-related legal questions.
He maintains an office in Philadelphia and operates Harris Law Offices from that location. He continues to serve clients across the region, advising on tax and related business matters.
