About John Cucci
John Cucci Jr. built a legal career that began with study and teaching before settling into private practice. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1989 and went on to receive a Juris Doctor from the City University of New York School of Law in 1992, where his studies emphasized public interest law.
Those academic choices framed much of his early work. After law school he returned to the CUNY Law School as an adjunct professor in 1994, a role that kept him connected to legal education and to the next generation of lawyers. Teaching provided a steady complement to the demands of practice and offered him a platform to discuss courtroom procedure and advocacy.
In the same year he began his private practice, founding the Cucci Law Group. The firm became the center of his professional life. He handled court work and client representation across matters that drew on both his courtroom experience and his classroom background. Over time the practice established a local presence and handled cases in the region where he worked.
In 2013 he took on a court-appointed role as a Suffolk County 18-B family law attorney. That designation involves representing litigants who qualify for assigned counsel in family court proceedings. The appointment signaled continued involvement in family law and public-service work within the court system.
Outside the courtroom he has maintained professional affiliations that reflect the scope of his practice. He is a member of the Brazoria County Bar Association, joining that organization in 2021. He also holds longstanding membership in the National Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, which dates to 2001. Those associations indicate engagement with both county-level bar activity and national criminal defense networks.
Throughout his career Cucci has balanced courtroom practice, teaching and court-appointed responsibilities. He has remained based at the Cucci Law Group, where he continues to represent clients and manage casework. His current practice includes work in family law and criminal defense matters, handled through the Cucci Law Group.
