About Jody B.
Jody B. Lipton has spent more than three decades in Michigan's legal community. She entered practice the year she earned her law degree and moved quickly from public service into private practice. Today she leads a small firm while remaining active in statewide professional organizations.
Lipton completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan–Dearborn, earning a B.A. in English in 1990. She then attended the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 1993. Those years framed her early legal perspective and set the stage for immediate entry into courtroom work.
Her first professional role after law school was as an Assistant Prosecuting Lawyer in Oakland County in 1993. In that post she worked within the county prosecutor's office. The position introduced her to courtroom procedure and the demands of public-sector litigation. Those formative months shaped the practical skills she would carry into private practice.
In 1996 she became managing partner of Lipton Law. Over the years she has overseen both casework and firm operations. As managing partner she balances case management, client communication, and administrative responsibilities. The firm bears her name and reflects a practice built from early prosecutorial experience and subsequent private practice work.
Lipton maintains memberships in several professional groups. She has been a member of the State Bar of Michigan since 1993. She is also affiliated with the American Association for Justice, the Michigan Association for Justice, and the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan. These affiliations keep her connected to the profession's developments and to peers across the state and nation.
Her career path ties public service to private practice. The skills she developed in the prosecutor's office informed how she manages litigation and client matters at Lipton Law. She is licensed in Michigan and listed as an active member of the state bar. Her current practice centers on representing clients in matters handled through her firm, Lipton Law.
