About Joanne
Joanne Fanizza began her legal journey after earning a series of degrees from Florida institutions. She holds a J.D. from the University of Florida (1987), a B.A. in political science from the University of Florida (1981) and an A.A. from Broward Community College (1978). Those credentials set the stage for a career that spans state and federal courts.
Her early years in the profession saw her join Ferrero & Middlebrooks, P.A. as an associate attorney in 1988. That role followed law school and provided courtroom and client experience across Florida matters. In 1995 she established the Law Offices of Joanne Fanizza, P.A., operating as a sole practitioner. Running a solo practice required handling a wide range of tasks: client intake, litigation strategy, transactional work and the administrative duties that come with managing a small firm.
Over time Fanizza expanded the geographic reach of her practice through admissions to multiple jurisdictions. She is admitted in Florida and New York and has secured credentials to appear before the 11th and 5th U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal. She is also admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court and to two federal trial courts: the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Her membership in the District of Columbia bar adds another layer to her ability to take on multi-jurisdictional matters.
Professional affiliations have been a steady part of her career. Fanizza has been a member of the American Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association since 1988. She joined the New York State Bar Association and the Nassau County Bar Association in 2008, and she has continued membership in the Broward County Bar Association since 1988. In 2008 she completed the STEP Program Intensive Skills Training for Estate Planners offered through the American Bar Association’s Real Property, Trusts and Estates Section.
In 2020 she took on an of counsel role at Bruno, Gerbino, Soriano & Aitken, LLP. That position followed decades of practicing both as a solo attorney and as an associate. The of counsel designation has allowed her to contribute experience to a firm environment while maintaining elements of an independent practice. Colleagues and clients have relied on her judgment in probate and estate matters, as well as in federal filings tied to those issues.
She currently serves of counsel at Bruno, Gerbino, Soriano & Aitken, LLP, and her practice centers on estate planning, probate and related federal and state matters.
