About Jessica

Jessica Summers earned her law degree from American University Washington College of Law in 2012 after completing a bachelor’s degree at Wheaton College in 2008. She finished law school at a time when the region’s legal landscape was reshaping around regulatory, employment and governmental developments. The timeline of her education places her among a generation of lawyers who entered practice in the early 2010s.

After law school, Summers joined Paley Rothman as an associate. Her work there has unfolded in an environment known for counseling businesses, institutions and individuals on a range of legal matters. She built her early career in firm practice, taking on research, drafting and client-facing assignments that are typical for associates at established mid-size firms.

Summers is admitted to practice in Maryland and Virginia, and she holds admission to the bars of the District of Columbia and the U.S. Supreme Court. Those credentials allow her to appear in federal and state matters in the region and, when appropriate, before the nation’s highest court. Her bar memberships reflect a regional practice that crosses jurisdictional lines.

She maintains active memberships in several professional and civic organizations. Summers belongs to the District of Columbia Bar and the Virginia State Bar Association. She is also listed with the Maryland State Bar and participates in the Bar Association of Montgomery County. Beyond legal circles, she is a member of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce and the Society for Human Resource Management, associations that speak to an interest in the intersections between law, business and workplace issues.

Colleagues describe the routine responsibilities of her role as including litigation preparation, client counseling and coordinating with experts and outside counsel when matters require it. Summers has handled casework and transactional tasks that align with a firm practice serving clients in the Mid-Atlantic. She has remained involved in bar and community groups while continuing day-to-day practice at the firm.

At Paley Rothman Summers combines courtroom admission and local bar engagement to represent clients across multiple jurisdictions. She practices from Paley Rothman, handling matters for clients across Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
