About Cristen

Cristen Rose trained for the law in three cities. She spent a year at the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1995, completed her undergraduate degree at Georgetown University in 1996, and earned her J.D. from William & Mary Marshall-Wythe School of Law in 1999. Those formative academic years set the stage for a practice that crosses state and federal lines.

Early in her career she moved into private practice and built a presence in Washington-area legal circles. Over time she expanded the scope of her work to include matters that proceed beyond trial courts. She holds admissions in Maryland and the District of Columbia. She is also admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Those credentials allow her to handle matters at the appellate level when clients require that next step.

Her professional title is Principal at Paley Rothman. In that role she manages client matters and contributes to firm strategy. The title reflects a senior role within the firm rather than a public office. Her day-to-day work combines case preparation, motions practice, and appearances where appropriate in both state and federal forums.

Rose maintains membership in the Maryland State Bar. That association places her within the professional network that shapes practice and procedure in the state. It also means she remains connected to local rules and developments that affect litigation and counseling in Maryland courts.

Colleagues describe her approach as methodical. She is known for careful briefing and a willingness to take cases through appellate channels when circumstances warrant. Her admissions to multiple appellate courts mean she can follow a matter from a trial setting to higher courts without bringing in outside counsel solely for appeals.

Her work at Paley Rothman keeps her engaged with a mix of litigation tasks and client counseling. She spends time on legal research and drafting, while also preparing clients for the realities of court proceedings. She is active in matters that require familiarity with both Maryland and District of Columbia procedure and is equipped to pursue appeals in the federal circuits to which she is admitted.

She currently practices at Paley Rothman, representing clients in Maryland, the District of Columbia and in federal appeals courts.
