About Jessica
Jessica Hardy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Florida State University in 2006 and completed her Juris Doctor at the University of Alabama School of Law in 2010. Her academic background combined social science and law, an alignment that shaped the early direction of her legal interests. She moved from study into practice at a moment when the legal landscape demanded practical courtroom skills and steady client counsel.
Her first notable post-law school role was at Kirk Drennan Law, where she served as a partner beginning in 2010. She spent the years that followed handling a variety of client matters and learning the operational side of a law office. That period provided sustained exposure to litigation strategy and client counseling, and it established the foundation for later steps in her career.
In 2020 she launched her own practice, J Hardy Family Law, taking the title of owner and managing partner. Running a small firm required attention to both casework and administration. She oversaw day-to-day operations while continuing to take cases in state courts. The move to an independent practice allowed her to set the scope and tone of client representation in a way that reflected her prior experience.
Hardy is admitted to practice in both Alabama and Florida. She has maintained membership in the Birmingham Bar Association since 2010, staying involved in the local legal community. That affiliation has connected her to continuing education opportunities and local court practices. Colleagues and clients see her work through the lens of two state systems, which can be important in matters that cross state lines.
Her practice centers on family law. She handles divorce proceedings, custody and parenting-time disputes, child and spousal support issues, and related family court matters. She represents clients in negotiations and in trial when cases require it. Her time in private practice has involved both contested litigation and negotiated resolutions, reflecting the range of tools family lawyers use.
Hardy balances casework with the administrative duties of running a firm. She manages client intake, supervises case preparation and coordinates filings. The combination of courtroom work and practice management characterizes her daily legal work. She currently concentrates her practice on family law matters.
