About Jess

Jess Johnson earned her B.A. from the University of Georgia in 2006 and completed her J.D. at The University of Georgia School of Law in 2009. She moved from classroom to courtroom at a time of rapid legal change. Her academic background in Athens provided the foundation for a career spanning state and federal practice.

She is admitted to practice in Georgia, the District of Columbia and before the Federal Circuit. Those admissions give her the ability to handle matters in state courts and to engage in federal proceedings across different fora. Over the years she has built a practice that crosses municipal and regional lines rather than remaining confined to a single courthouse.

Her professional memberships point toward two steady strands of work. She holds membership in the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, indicating sustained engagement with trial practice and criminal defense in the state. She is also a member of the Federal Bar Association, which reflects involvement in federal court matters and the larger national bar community.

Johnson maintains multiple offices to serve a scattered client base. She has an office presence in Atlanta and Brunswick in Georgia, and she also lists offices in Northern Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles. That geographic spread means she balances cases that arise in different legal climates and time zones. It also suggests she is accustomed to handling matters that require coordination across state lines and between state and federal systems.

She is a member of the Georgia State Bar and participates in bar activities that are common for practicing attorneys in the state. Her association memberships have kept her connected to trial-focused cohorts and federal practitioners alike. Colleagues describe her as someone who prefers practical courtroom work over purely transactional practice, and she appears regularly in matters that involve contested hearings and trial preparation.

Johnson’s courtroom work encompasses criminal defense and civil litigation, and her admissions allow her to pursue cases at both the state and federal levels. She currently practices criminal defense and civil litigation across Georgia and in federal courts.
