About Jerusha L.
Jerusha L. Hancock earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 2002. She continued her studies at Denver Seminary, completing a Master of Arts in 2005. Hancock then returned to Nebraska for law school and received her J.D. from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2008. Her academic path combined liberal arts, graduate theological study, and legal training.
Her early legal experience began while she was still a student. In 2006 she served as a law clerk in the Lancaster County Lawyer’s Office. After law school she took a clerkship at the Nebraska Supreme Court in 2008. Those two positions gave her exposure to courtroom procedure and appellate work, and they placed her in the center of Nebraska’s state legal system at an early stage in her career.
Hancock moved into public-interest and nonprofit legal work after her clerkships. In 2012 she joined Nebraska Appleseed, where she worked as an attorney. That role involved policy-oriented work and client services aimed at addressing systemic problems in the state. In 2014 she transitioned to private practice and began working at Berry Law Office as a lawyer. Her resume therefore spans government, nonprofit, and private-sector legal settings.
She has maintained professional affiliations outside of her employer. Since 2014 Hancock has held membership in the National Organization of Veterans’ Advocates. That affiliation signals an ongoing connection to practitioners who handle veterans’ claims and related issues. Her career history and memberships suggest a blend of appellate experience, public-interest practice, and client-facing legal work.
Colleagues and clients describe Hancock as steady and methodical in the way she approaches cases. She has spent years navigating filings, hearings, and administrative processes in Nebraska courts and agencies. Her background in a state supreme court clerkship supplied an early familiarity with appellate opinion drafting and court procedures. Work at a legal services organization exposed her to casework tied to policy concerns and to the needs of underserved populations.
Since 2014 Hancock has been based at Berry Law Office in Nebraska. She continues to practice law in the state and to participate in professional organizations related to veterans’ legal issues. She currently practices at Berry Law Office, representing clients and handling legal matters in Nebraska.
