About Jerry

Jerry Salcido studied history as an undergraduate at Brigham Young University, earning a B.A. in 1997. He stayed at BYU for law school and received his J.D. from the J. Reuben Clark Law School in 2001. His academic path combined a liberal arts foundation with three years of legal training in Provo.

He entered practice in the early 2000s. In 2004 he joined Filice Brown Eassa & McLeod as an associate. Three years later he moved to Baker & McKenzie LLP, another associate position that exposed him to a larger firm environment and a broader caseload. By 2009 he was a partner at Salcido Law Office PLLC, the firm he continues to be associated with.

Salcido’s professional memberships reflect the directions his work has taken. He has been on the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws legal committee since 2014. He also serves on the executive committee of the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, a role he has held since 2010. He has been a member of the Utah Criminal Defense Association since 2010 and the Utah Association for Justice since 2008. Earlier in his career he participated on the legal committee of the Homeschool Association of California from 2005 to 2009.

Those affiliations point to recurring themes in his caseload. He appears regularly in matters tied to criminal defense and to legal questions surrounding state and federal drug policy. His calendar has included litigation, client counseling and work that touches on policy advocacy. He handles work across state lines, practicing in California, Utah and Arizona.

Colleagues describe him as practical in court and straightforward with clients. He has moved between boutique and large-firm settings, and that experience informs how he manages cases and staff. He balances courtroom appearances with legal research and the administrative duties that come with running a small firm.

Outside the office his early volunteer work on a homeschool association committee suggests an interest in education-related legal issues, a thread that runs alongside his criminal defense practice. Over time his public association commitments have concentrated on criminal-justice matters and on efforts to clarify and reform drug laws.

He currently practices at Salcido Law Office PLLC, handling criminal defense and marijuana law matters across California, Utah and Arizona.
