About Jeremy Benjamin

Jeremy Benjamin Widder built a legal foundation through two East Coast universities. He earned a B.A. in history and legal studies from Brandeis University in 2006. He followed that with a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, awarded in 2009. The academic record combines liberal arts inquiry with formal legal training.

His first paid position after law school put him in a public prosecutor’s office. In 2009 he served as an assistant state lawyer in Charles County. That role gave him courtroom responsibility early in his career. He handled day-to-day matters for the office and learned how local prosecutions proceed from charging to disposition.

After leaving the prosecutor’s office he spent time in legal education. In 2012 he returned to an academic setting as a mock trial coach at American University Washington College of Law. He worked with students on trial technique, case preparation, and courtroom procedure. Colleagues from that period describe him as practical in his coaching. Students gained experience under conditions that mirror real trials.

In private practice, Widder took on roles that broadened his experience. Records show he worked as a lawyer at Hammad Matin Law in 2018. That position added civil and client-side skills to the criminal law grounding he had developed earlier. It also exposed him to the business of running cases outside a government office.

He later founded his own practice, Jeremy Widder Law. The firm operates in Maryland and draws on his combined public and private experience. He manages client matters, appears in state courts, and handles pretrial and trial work. His daily practice mixes litigation tasks with client counseling and case strategy.

Observers of his career note a steady progression from government work to education and then private practice. Each stop contributed a different set of skills. As a coach he sharpened courtroom instruction. As an assistant state lawyer he acquired prosecutorial habits. In private firms he learned to translate those habits into client-centered representation.

Widder’s career path reflects a common arc for lawyers who move between public service and private practice. He practices in Maryland and runs Jeremy Widder Law, where he represents clients in matters before state and local courts.
