About Jennifer

Jennifer Lerner earned her undergraduate degree from Stanford University in 1998 and returned to the East Coast to complete a law degree at New York University School of Law in 2004. The combination of a liberal arts background and a professional legal education provided a foundation for work that would span both state and federal matters. Her time at NYU coincided with a period of close study of litigation and regulatory issues, subjects that later informed her early legal practice.

After law school, Lerner joined Cooley Godward Kronish LLP as an associate. At the firm she worked alongside litigators and transactional attorneys on matters originating in New York. The role required drafting briefs, conducting legal research, and assisting in motion practice. Colleagues described her approach as methodical and precise. She handled assignments typical for a large firm associate, supporting cases and client matters that reached state and federal forums.

Lerner is admitted to the bar of New York and is authorized to appear in the U.S. District Court for both the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. Those admissions have allowed her to work on cases that progress from local courts to federal dockets. She has experience preparing filings for federal practice and coordinating with lead counsel when matters advance beyond initial pleadings.

Outside of casework, Lerner’s academic credentials have remained a reference point. A Stanford undergraduate degree and a JD from NYU signal training in analytic reasoning and legal doctrine. That background informed her contributions at Cooley, where she balanced legal research with practical drafting responsibilities. She kept current on procedural developments relevant to practice in New York’s courts.

Today Lerner maintains a practice centered on matters litigated in New York state and federal courts. She continues to take assignments that involve federal filings and state-court proceedings, working on litigation tasks that range from motion drafting to courtroom preparation. Her current practice focuses on representing clients before New York and the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York federal courts.
