About Jeffrey Scott
Jeffrey Scott Spencer is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in Nevada. He was admitted to the Nevada State Bar in 2004. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Spencer is a partner at Silver State Law LLC, a law firm located in Reno, Nevada. He has been practicing law for over 21 years, serving clients throughout Northern Nevada, including Reno, Elko, Carson City, Fernley, Fallon, Incline Village, and the Lake Tahoe area.
Mr. Spencer earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law, where he graduated in 2004. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of Nevada, Reno, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and International Affairs in 1997. During his time at UNR, he was an international exchange student at Beijing Language and Culture University.
Mr. Spencer concentrates his practice in the areas of construction law and business law. He represents clients in matters involving construction contracts, construction defects, construction liens, business contracts, business dissolution, business finance, business formation, business litigation, franchising, mergers and acquisitions, and partnership and shareholder disputes. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Spencer has handled cases in the Nevada District Courts, including the First Judicial District Court (Storey County and Carson City), Second Judicial District Court (Washoe County), Third Judicial District Court (Lyon County), Fourth Judicial District Court (Elko County), Fifth Judicial District Court (Esmeralda County and Nye County), Sixth Judicial District Court (Humboldt County), Seventh Judicial District Court (Eureka, Lincoln and White Pine Counties), Eighth Judicial District Court (Clark County), Ninth Judicial District Court (Douglas County), Tenth Judicial District Court (Churchill County), and Eleventh Judicial District Court (Pershing, Lander and Mineral Counties). He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Nevada, the United States District Courts of California (Central, Eastern, and Northern Districts), and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Prior to joining Silver State Law LLC, he worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in Reno for several years.
Mr. Spencer is an active member of the Nevada State Bar and the Washoe County Bar Association. He is a past Chair of the Construction Law Section for the State of Nevada. He is also a Board member of the Rebuilding Together Northern Nevada association, which provides low-income, senior, and veteran homeowners with free repairs to their homes. Mr. Spencer is a guest lecturer at UNR’s Construction Management class, a founding member of the Association of General Contractors Construction Leadership Council, and an HOA Board Member. He enjoys all of Nevada’s outdoor opportunities, including skiing, hiking, and exploring ghost towns, and he also enjoys international travel with his family.
