About Blaine E
Blaine E Cartlidge has built a legal career that moves between courtroom work and office counsel roles. He has occupied positions in public service and private practice over several decades. Those shifts give him a broad view of how disputes resolve and how local government handles civil claims.
Early in his career he served as a law clerk to Washoe County District Court Judge William Forman in 1988. That year on the trial court bench offered an inside look at case management, draft opinions and the practical rhythm of trials. Clerking for a district judge helped shape his approach to litigation and legal drafting.
The next year he entered private practice. Beginning in 1989 he worked as an associate, later as a partner and eventually in solo practice. Those years in private firms and running his own practice exposed him to client counseling, discovery, motion practice and settlement negotiations. He represented private clients across a range of civil matters and learned the administrative side of running a law office.
In 2001 he moved into the public sector as a Senior Deputy District Lawyer in the Washoe County District Attorney’s Civil Division. In that role he handled civil litigation for the county and advised on civil claims involving local government. The position required coordinating with county departments, preparing pleadings and appearing in court on behalf of the public entity.
In 2016 he began operating under the Cartlidge Law Office name and continues to practice under that banner. His work over the years has combined courtroom appearances and client counseling. He draws on experience from the bench, private partnerships and the civil division of the district attorney’s office when preparing cases or negotiating resolutions.
Today he practices from Cartlidge Law Office. His current practice focuses on civil litigation and general civil matters.
