About Jeffrey P

Jeffrey P Battista built his legal foundation in the classroom and in the courtroom. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from West Virginia University in 1997, then moved to Florida to attend the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he received his J.D. in 2000. Those years shaped his approach to casework: methodical, detail-oriented and conscious of both numbers and human stakes.

He began his career in public service. In 2000 he joined the Indian River County State Lawyer’s Office as an Assistant State Lawyer. That role put him on the front lines of criminal prosecution and gave him an early view of courtroom procedure and client advocacy. Four years later he left public employment and co-founded a private practice, Menz & Battista, in 2004. Building a firm from the ground up taught him the business side of law as well as case management and client counseling.

Over time his practice shifted more toward family law. In 2019 he became a Family Law Partner at Grall Law Group. The move reflected changes in local demand and in his own caseload. He handles divorces, custody disputes and related litigation. He draws on his earlier criminal work when cases touch on domestic violence or child safety issues.

Battista is active in professional organizations. He maintains membership in The Florida Bar and sits on the Family Law Rules Committee, a role he has held since 2019. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Indian River County Bar Association and remains a member of that local bar. His memberships also include the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, as well as the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. Those ties keep him connected to procedural developments and to peers handling similar disputes.

Colleagues describe him as practical in the courtroom and straightforward with clients. He favors careful preparation and clear explanations. His accounting background remains an asset in cases involving asset division and financial disclosures. He has worked on both contested and negotiated matters and handles hearings, settlements and trial when necessary.

He practices in Florida and continues to handle a mix of family law matters at Grall Law Group, where he manages cases that range from custody and support to dissolution and related litigation.
