About Jeffrey Laurence
Jeffrey Laurence Bleich is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1989. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Bleich is a partner at Dentons US LLP, a multinational law firm with offices in San Francisco, California. He has been practicing law for over 36 years, serving clients throughout California and internationally.
Mr. Bleich earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 1989. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at Amherst College, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1983. He also holds a Master of Public Policy from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government, obtained in 1986. In 1993, he received a Certificate of Study in Public and Private International Law from the Hague Academy of International Law in the Netherlands.
Mr. Bleich concentrates his practice in the areas of international dispute resolution, appeals, and cybersecurity. He has represented numerous clients in complex litigation matters, including class actions and appeals before the U.S. Supreme Court, the California Supreme Court, and various intermediate courts. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts. He has also served as a Court-Appointed Special Master and Mediator in the United States District Court.
Throughout his career, Mr. Bleich has handled cases in the U.S. Supreme Court, the California Supreme Court, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. He has also appeared before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Prior to joining Dentons in 2016, he was a partner at Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP from 1992 to 2009 and again from 2014 to 2016. He served as the U.S. Ambassador to Australia from 2009 to 2013 and as Special Counsel to President Obama in the White House from 2008 to 2009.
Mr. Bleich is an active member of the State Bar of California and has held leadership positions in several legal services organizations, including serving as president of the San Francisco Bar Association in 2003 and as chair of the American Bar Association Amicus Curiae Committee from 2006 to 2009. He has also served on the boards of Human Rights Watch and the Legal Aid Society of San Francisco. In addition to his legal practice, he has been involved in various community and professional organizations, including serving as chair of the board of trustees of California State University and as chair of the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. He is fluent in English and has a working knowledge of French.
