Jeffrey Donald Kent is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1992. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Kent is the managing partner at The Kent Law Firm, APC, a criminal defense firm located in Fullerton, California. He has been practicing law for over 33 years, serving clients throughout Southern California.
Mr. Kent earned his Juris Doctor degree from Western State University, College of Law, where he graduated with honors in 1992. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Irvine, receiving Bachelor of Arts degrees with honors in both Economics and Political Science in 1989. During his time at Western State, he gained practical experience by working with both the Orange County Public Defender and the Orange County District Attorney's Office.
Mr. Kent concentrates his practice in the area of criminal defense law. He has handled several thousand criminal cases, including over 100 jury trials, in both state and federal courts, and a number of homicide cases. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings. He has also had the privilege of being one of a select group of lawyers to have argued before the California Supreme Court.
Throughout his career, Mr. Kent has been admitted to practice before the California State Bar, the United States District Courts of the Central, Eastern, Northern, Southern, and Western Districts of California, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He has also represented clients in Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Virginia, and Washington in their respective state or federal district courts. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate attorney at a criminal defense firm in Fullerton for several years.
Mr. Kent is an active member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the California Attorneys for Criminal Justice. He is also a co-founder of the North Orange County Bar Association. He has been granted the honor of being a Certified Specialist in Criminal Law by the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization, a designation held by approximately 25 attorneys in Orange County and 350 in the entire state of California. He is also listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers, Martindale-Hubbell with an AV rating (the highest given), Avvo.com with a 10.0 rating, and has been listed for numerous years in the Super Lawyers publication by Los Angeles Magazine.
