About Jeffery

Jeffery Nona built his working life around the law. He came to it after an undergraduate degree in history at the University of California, Berkeley, and a law degree from the University of Idaho College of Law in 1992. Those academic years left him with a practical approach to legal problems and an interest in how rules shape public life.

He was admitted to practice in Idaho in 1993, registering with both the Idaho Supreme Court and the Idaho State Bar that year. Since then he has remained active in the state's legal community. His name appears on membership rolls and in association listings stretching back decades, a record that reflects steady participation rather than a series of headline-grabbing moves.

Nona has been a member of the Idaho Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2000. That affiliation places him in a network of trial lawyers who handle criminal matters across the state. Colleagues describe the association as a practical forum for case law updates, trial techniques and mutual support among defense counsel. For a lawyer practicing in Idaho, those connections matter at the courthouse.

Courtroom work has occupied much of his career. He represents people charged with criminal offenses at various stages of prosecution. His work requires attention to evidentiary issues, procedural deadlines and the mechanics of plea and trial practice. He has handled arraignments, motions, negotiations and trials, and he adapts his approach to the needs of each client and the facts of each case.

Nona's background in history informs the way he frames arguments. He often traces legal issues back to statutory text or precedent, then explains their practical import to judges and juries. He favors clear, concise presentations over elaborate theory. That preference shows up in written motions as well as oral advocacy.

Outside the courtroom he has remained connected to the Idaho legal community. Long-term memberships on state rolls and in the criminal defense association reflect ongoing ties to peers and continuing legal education. He has practiced through changes in law and procedure, adjusting as rules and technology evolved.

As of 2026 he continues to practice law in Idaho. His current practice focuses on criminal defense matters in state courts.
