About Jefferson S

Jefferson S Cannon built a steady path into the law through a mix of general education and focused study. He earned an A.A. from Snow College in 2002, then completed a B.S. in political science, sociology and Spanish at the University of Utah in 2005. He went on to receive his J.D. from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 2009.

Early in his career Cannon moved into practice in Utah. He has been active in professional circles since the late 2000s and has held membership in the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys (NARCA) since 2009. That long-standing membership places him among peers who work on matters that touch consumer finance and creditor-collection topics, and it has kept him connected to developments in that area of practice.

Over the years Cannon has worked in private practice settings. He has handled cases and client work governed by Utah law and has navigated the procedural demands of state courts. His work has required attention to detail and an ability to manage documentation, deadlines and client expectations in adversarial and transactional contexts.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in legal preparation and steady in court settings. He balances written advocacy with the practical needs of clients who require clear legal options. His background in political science and sociology informs his approach to legal problems, giving him a broader view of the community and regulatory forces that shape disputes.

Cannon maintains an ongoing presence in local practice through his office at Cannon Law Associates. There he continues to represent clients before Utah tribunals and to advise on matters that arise under state law. He remains a member of professional groups that address collection and creditor concerns, and he keeps current on changes in statutes and procedural rules that affect his clients.

Today he practices law in Utah from Cannon Law Associates, representing and advising clients in matters that come before Utah courts and administrative bodies.
