About Jedidiah Jed

Jedidiah Jed McKeehan built his legal education on a steady timeline. He earned a B.A. in political science from Carson-Newman College in 2004 and completed his J.D. at Samford University in 2007. During his studies he worked in several clerk roles that introduced him to both public and private practice. Those early experiences shaped how he approached cases once he entered the bar.

While still in law school McKeehan served as a law clerk at Burroughs, Collins and Jabaley in 2005 and at the Tennessee Valley Authority in 2006. After graduating he took an associate position at The Kennedy Law Firm in 2007 and moved to The Hurley Law Office in 2008. Those first years as an associate gave him steady courtroom and trial experience, and a chance to handle a range of civil matters for individual and institutional clients.

In 2016 McKeehan became a partner at Tarpy, Cox, Fleishman & Leveille. That role expanded his management responsibilities and exposed him to larger, more complex files. Four years later he opened his own firm. In 2020 he founded McKeehan Law Group, LLC and assumed ownership and day-to-day leadership of the practice.

McKeehan is admitted to practice in Tennessee and is also admitted before the U.S. Supreme Court and the Federal Circuit. He holds a Ruled 31 listing as a family and civil mediator from the Tennessee Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission. The mediator credential reflects work outside the courtroom as well as inside it. He frequently moves between litigation and negotiated resolution, depending on the case and the client’s needs.

Outside client work he has been active in community and professional organizations. He joined the Knoxville Bar Association in 2008 and became a member of the American Bar Association and the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association in 2017. Since 2017 he has also held membership with the Tennessee State Board of Examiners for Land Surveyors. He served as chairman of the Berean Christian School board from 2011 to 2016 and was a board member of YOKE Youth Ministries from 2012 to 2014. Since 2018 he has been on the board of Knoxville Inner City Kids Outreach (KICKO).

Colleagues describe McKeehan as methodical in preparation and direct in court. He structures files so he can switch quickly from discovery to mediation or trial. He runs his firm and accepts matters that match the office’s capacity and expertise. He practices from McKeehan Law Group, LLC, handling civil litigation, family mediation and related matters.
