About Jay D
Jay D Mukerji blends legal training and financial credentials in a practice that spans business and estate matters. He moved through a formal course of study that began with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Economics from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2005. He earned an MBA in Organizational Development from Benedictine University in 2012 and completed his Juris Doctor at Valparaiso University School of Law in 2016.
His early career followed financial lines. He worked as an agent for Prudential Financial beginning in 2007 and later served as a registered investment advisor at Mukerji Financial Group starting in 2011. Those roles ran alongside professional certifications: Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). In 2015 he took on a role as a tax advocate at the Valparaiso University School of Law Clinic, where he handled tax-related client matters while finishing law school.
After earning his law degree he pursued additional legal training in areas that intersect with his financial background. He holds certificates from the Institute of Continuing Legal Education and the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan in closely held business entity formation, probate and estate planning, and commercial lease drafting and negotiation. He joined Arbor Law PLLC as a lawyer in 2019 and has practiced there since.
Mukerji is licensed to practice law in Michigan. His work draws on both sides of his résumé. He handles business entity formation and related governance questions. He prepares estate plans and assists in probate administration. He drafts and negotiates commercial leases and addresses tax issues that affect both individuals and small businesses. His combined financial and legal qualifications inform how he structures solutions for clients looking to align business and personal affairs.
He maintains memberships in the State Bar of Michigan, the Washtenaw County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. That mix of associations reflects the dual nature of his practice and keeps him engaged with peers in law and financial services. He practices through Arbor Law PLLC. His practice covers business formation, estate planning, probate, tax matters and commercial leases.
