About Suzanne
Suzanne Fanning trained in Britain before turning to American law. She earned a B.A. in Political History from the University of Bristol in 1991 and later completed her J.D. at Wayne State University Law School in 1996. Those years set a clear path toward the courtroom and the probate office.
Her career began in private practice. Early on she worked at Garan Lucow Miller, a firm where she first held the title of lawyer in 1994. She moved to Koselka Devine PLLC in 2001, a period that broadened her exposure to estate matters and court procedures. In 2008 she returned to Garan Lucow Miller, rejoining a different practice environment and handling a mix of probate and estate work. In 2014 she opened Suzanne R. Fanning PLLC and took on the role of principal lawyer.
Across those roles, probate and estate planning emerged as steady components of her work. She completed a Probate and Estate Planning certification through the Institute of Continuing Legal Education. That credential reinforced the practical experience she accumulated over two decades of work on wills, trusts, fiduciary duties and estate administration.
Fanning has also taken part in professional association activity spanning many years. Records show involvement beginning in 1996 and continuing to the present. She has served as a former co-chair of the Probate and Estate Planning Section, a leadership role that involved coordinating educational programs and helping set agenda items for the section during her tenure. Her association work has kept her in regular contact with peers and developments in probate practice.
Her practice reflects that background. She handles probate administration, prepares estate planning documents and counsels executors and trustees through court processes. Colleagues describe her approach as steady and methodical; clients receive detailed explanations of options and procedures. She has balanced litigation-related work when estates require court intervention with non-litigation planning to minimize future disputes.
Suzanne Fanning is licensed to practice in Michigan and runs her own firm, Suzanne R. Fanning PLLC. She continues to take cases and advise clients in probate and estate matters, operating from her private practice in Michigan where she concentrates on estate planning and probate administration.
