About Jason

Jason Yates built his legal foundation at St. Bonaventure University and went on to earn a J.D. from Drake University Law School. He completed his formal legal education in institutions known for blending classroom instruction with practical training. The law school connection to Iowa positioned him for a practice rooted in the state.

After law school he entered legal practice and later joined the Law Group of Iowa. At the firm he has handled a range of matters that reflect the daily work of trial attorneys and counselors to clients. He is comfortable in court and at the negotiating table. Colleagues describe him as pragmatic and methodical in case preparation.

Yates’s work has required courtroom appearances, written pleadings, and client counseling. He has worked on discovery, motion practice, and settlement negotiations. Those tasks make up much of the rhythm of his practice. He pays attention to factual detail and to procedural deadlines, and he seeks clear options for clients facing legal decisions.

Outside of strict case work, Yates values the continuing education that keeps an attorney current on changing law. His law school background prepared him for legal research and advocacy. He continues to rely on those skills when evaluating new matters or advising clients on the likely paths a dispute may take. He is comfortable explaining complex legal points in plain language.

He currently practices at the Law Group of Iowa, where his work concentrates on representing clients in matters that arise in Iowa state and federal courts.
