About Jason
Jason Wagner grew up in Minnesota and stayed in state for both college and law school. He earned a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities and returned to the same campus for his Juris Doctor, graduating from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2013. That year marked both the end of his formal legal education and the start of his professional affiliations in the Rochester area.
Early in his career Wagner joined local professional groups that connected him to other lawyers and to the broader community. He became involved in the Rochester Estate Planning Council in 2013 and joined the Olmsted County Bar Association and the Minnesota State Bar Association the same year. Those ties offered regular contact with peers who handle wills, trusts, probate and related issues.
Community work has been a steady part of Wagner’s trajectory. He served on the board of the Elder Network beginning in 2014, a role that placed him alongside nonprofit leaders and service providers focused on issues affecting older adults. In 2015 he took on a civic position as a Rotarian with the Rochester Rotary Risers. Those stints show an interest in civic engagement as well as in matters that frequently overlap with legal planning for families and seniors.
Colleagues describe Wagner as methodical in his approach to client matters. He takes time to explain the steps of probate and trust administration, and to outline options for incapacity planning and beneficiary designations. He is comfortable drafting traditional wills and revocable trusts, and he routinely works through the mechanics of powers of attorney and health care directives. He also assists clients who need guidance on elder-services coordination and planning for long-term care costs.
Wagner’s work combines routine document drafting with case-by-case problem solving. He spends time meeting with family members and financial advisors to map out how legal documents should align with a client’s broader goals. He remains active in the Minnesota bar community and local professional groups, attending continuing education and council meetings that keep him current on statutory and procedural changes.
Licensed to practice in Minnesota, Wagner maintains an active presence in the Rochester legal community. His current practice centers on estate planning and elder law.
