About Courtney
Courtney Sebo earned her law degree from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in 2010 after completing undergraduate studies at the University of Saint Thomas, where she majored in English and took minors in philosophy and French. Her academic path combined the analytical habits of philosophy with the close reading skills of an English major. Those skills showed again once she entered the legal field.
She began her legal career in clerkships at the Minnesota Court of Appeals, first in 2010 and again in 2013. Those years on the court offered daily exposure to appellate briefs, opinions and the mechanics of judicial decision-making. Between those clerkships she spent time in private practice as an associate at Ratwik, Roszak & Maloney, P.A., joining the firm in 2011. In 2013 she moved to Meagher & Geer, PLLP as an associate, continuing work that involved research, drafting and courtroom preparation.
In 2015 she took the step of opening her own practice. As owner and lawyer at Excelsior Law Office, L.L.C., she manages client matters and the business of the firm. She also has maintained ties to dispute resolution outside the courtroom. She served as a No-Fault Arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association, a role that drew on her familiarity with arbitration procedures and decision-writing.
Sebo holds membership in the Minnesota State Bar Association, a membership she has maintained since 2010. The combination of appellate clerkships, associate roles at regional firms and work as an arbitrator has given her steady exposure to written advocacy and procedural practice. She has moved between judicial chambers and law offices often enough that she is comfortable on both sides of the bench: preparing work product for judges and advocating for clients.
She maintains offices in Excelsior and Rochester while operating through Excelsior Law Office, L.L.C. Her practice draws on her appellate background and arbitration experience and handles matters that require careful legal research, drafting and procedural handling. Her current practice focuses on civil litigation, appellate matters, and arbitration-related work.
