About Jana
Jana Nattermann began a professional path that crosses social work, higher education administration and law. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from the University of Kentucky in 1998. Two decades later she completed a J.D. at Regent University School of Law in 2018.
Her early career centered on youth programming. In 2005 she worked as Teen Program Director at the Stratford Richardson YMCA in Charlotte, North Carolina. The following year she served as Youth Zone Director at Community Services YMCA in Cincinnati, Ohio. Those roles placed her in front of families and community stakeholders, managing programs and staff and addressing behavioral and safety issues.
Nattermann moved into higher education administration after law school work drew her back to Regent University. In 2012 she took on the role of Assistant Director of Human Resources and Deputy Title IX Coordinator at the university. That position combined HR responsibilities with student conduct and compliance duties. She returned to Regent as an adjunct faculty member in 2019, teaching students in the law program and drawing on her administrative experience.
In 2021 she began practicing law at Toscano Law Group, where her title includes work in Title IX and civil practice. Her credentials include certification as a Guardian ad Litem by the Supreme Court of Virginia and a Certified Sexual Assault Investigator credential from Regent University. Those qualifications inform work that often intersects with campus investigations, student discipline and civil claims arising from institutional decisions.
Colleagues describe Nattermann as pragmatic in approach. She handles administrative and procedural matters and attends to evidentiary and policy details that matter in institutional cases. Her background in both direct service to youth and university administration gives her familiarity with the stakeholders on each side of campus disputes.
Her practice at Toscano Law Group reflects the mix of skills she developed over two decades. She is licensed to practice in Virginia and concentrates on the legal issues that arise from student conduct processes, Title IX investigations and related civil litigation. She currently represents clients in Title IX matters and civil claims in Virginia.
