About Jamie R.
Jamie R. Schumacher took a direct path into law. She earned a B.A. in political science from Gannon University in 2011 and completed her J.D. at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2014. Those years set the tone for a career centered on court work and professional association involvement.
After law school she joined MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton as a lawyer in 2014. Her early years at the firm involved courtroom assignments and filings in both state and federal venues. She gained admissions to practice in Pennsylvania and in federal courts, including the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Western Districts of Pennsylvania and the Third Circuit, enabling her to handle trial and appellate matters across jurisdictions.
Schumacher is a member of the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Erie County Bar Association. She participates in those organizations as a practicing attorney, keeping current on developments in procedure and case law that affect litigation in the region. Her memberships also connect her to colleagues handling a range of civil and criminal matters in northwest Pennsylvania.
Colleagues describe her work as steady and attentive to the procedural demands of litigation. She prepares briefs, manages case dockets and appears in hearings in both state and federal courts. Admission to the Third Circuit allows her to continue cases beyond trial courts when appeals arise, and she has taken on appellate filings when matters have progressed to that level.
Her legal practice remains anchored at MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton. There she works on matters that require representation in Pennsylvania state courts and in the federal district courts that serve the region. Clients see her in hearings, at status conferences and in appellate briefing, and she handles the litigation tasks that arise in those settings.
As of 2026 she continues to practice at MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton, representing clients in proceedings before Pennsylvania courts and in the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Western Districts of Pennsylvania, as well as in the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
