About Jamie K.
Jamie K. Ogden began her legal education in the Pacific Northwest. She earned a B.A. from the University of Washington in 2003, then went on to complete a J.D. at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2006. She returned to academic study after a period in practice and completed an LL.M. at New York University School of Law in 2011.
Her admissions reflect a bi-coastal practice. She is admitted to the bars of California and New York and is authorized to appear before the U.S. Tax Court. Those credentials have guided the arc of her career and the types of matters she handles.
Ogden joined Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP as a lawyer and has practiced there since. At the firm she has worked on matters that arise at the intersection of federal and state tax rules. She has represented clients in proceedings where federal tax questions were central, and she has advised on state tax issues that required coordination across jurisdictions.
Colleagues describe her as methodical and concise in written submissions. She prepares pleadings and briefs intended for administrative tribunals and courts, and she participates in negotiations that aim to resolve disputes before they proceed to formal adjudication. She also advises on compliance risks and procedural steps that affect how cases unfold at the agency level and in court.
Outside courtroom or regulatory filings, Ogden brings the training of three distinct law programs to bear. Her J.D. from Berkeley and LL.M. from NYU gave her exposure to varied doctrinal approaches, while her undergraduate degree from the University of Washington informed her early interest in public policy as it touches tax law.
She maintains memberships in both the State Bar of California and the State Bar of New York. Those memberships support a practice that can span state lines and engage federal forums. Her admission to the U.S. Tax Court allows her to represent clients in tax controversies at the national level.
Ogden currently practices at Jeffer Mangels Butler & Mitchell LLP and focuses her practice on tax matters, including representation in tax proceedings and related state and federal disputes.
