About James
James Johnson trained first as a scientist and later as a lawyer. He combined careful analysis and courtroom practice to build a steady legal career.
He earned a B.A. in Biochemistry from California State University, Sacramento. After several years, he returned to study law and received his J.D. from Trinity Law School in 2006.
Soon after finishing law school he founded Johnson Lawyers Group in 2006. He has remained at the firm since its founding and serves in a leadership role. The firm handles matters across California, and Johnson has maintained an active litigation practice while overseeing the firm’s operations.
Over the years he has concentrated on consumer protection and civil trial work. That direction is reflected in his memberships: he belongs to the Professional Association of the Consumer Lawyers of Los Angeles, The Consumer Lawyers of California, and the American Association for Justice. He also holds membership in Trial Lawyers of Excellence and the American Bar Association.
He is a member of the California State Bar and practices in California courts. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases and direct when arguing them. He handles case intake, supervises litigation strategy and often appears on behalf of clients in motion practice and settlement discussions.
Johnson’s early training in biochemistry informs how he approaches technical evidence. He reads expert reports closely and looks for gaps in causation and proof. That attention to detail carries through to how his office prepares pleadings and coordinates experts.
Throughout his career he has balanced courtroom work with the administrative duties of running a law firm. He assigns cases, mentors newer attorneys and remains involved in client-facing litigation. His memberships in several trial and consumer law organizations keep him connected to developments in statutes and case law.
As of 2026 he continues to lead Johnson Lawyers Group and to represent clients in consumer and civil litigation across California. His current practice focuses on consumer protection and civil trial matters.
