About James D.
James D. Rosenberg earned his J.D. from Northeastern University in 1999 after completing a B.A. at American University in 1996. He moved into practice immediately following law school and built a career that blends government service, trial and appellate work, and legal education.
He began as an associate at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault in 1999. A year later he joined the New Hampshire Office of the Lawyer General as an Assistant Lawyer General, a role that placed him in public-service litigation early in his career. He returned to private practice and academic work over the next several years, teaching a course on white collar crime at the Massachusetts School of Law in 2002.
Rosenberg joined Shaheen & Gordon, P.A. as an associate in 2004. He was named a shareholder and director in 2005 and became a partner in 2006. That same year he taught Advanced Appellate Advocacy as an adjunct professor at Franklin Pierce Law Center. The sequence illustrates a steady climb through firm ranks while maintaining ties to legal education and appellate practice.
His admissions include the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and the state bars of New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Those credentials reflect a practice that handles matters at trial and on appeal, and that can move cases through state and federal systems.
Rosenberg is active in bar and defense circles. He holds memberships in the New Hampshire Bar Association, the New Hampshire Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the American Bar Association. Those affiliations align with his courtroom work and his teaching on appellate and white collar subjects.
Colleagues and students have encountered him in courtrooms and classrooms. His career includes government litigation experience as well as long-term firm practice. He moved from associate to partner at the same firm over the course of a few years, while periodically stepping into academic roles to teach trial and appellate techniques.
He currently practices at Shaheen & Gordon, P.A. His work centers on criminal defense and appellate matters, representing clients in trial courts and on appeal across state and federal forums.
